A Day In The Life of a Rookie!
March 2, 2024 4:00 - 5:00 PM
This is a FREE event for ages 5-7 years old.
You are invited to come experience a day in the life of our Rookie Production Company!
At this event, you will do a class warm up, work on jazz technique, and learn a short dance from Ms. Tami. Then watch our 2023-2024 team perform their competition routines!
What is a DAUPC Rookie?
Dance Academy USA Production Company (DAUPC) is a nationally-ranked competition team consisting of talented, hard-working, and enthusiastic dancers ages 5-18. Participation on this team is an amazing opportunity and a great privilege. We strive to give our students the most professional competition experience, and we are very proud of all our wonderful DAUPC students, parents, and teachers.
Rookies are our youngest competitive group of dancers for ages 5-7 (competition age) in jazz and/or tap. Competition age is determined by their birthday as of January 1, 2024. There is a formal audition that will be held the weekend of March 9-10 (one of those days). The Audition Packet and Information will be available soon.
PHILOSOPHY
The goal of this DAU program is to offer advanced training through a competitive performance environment. DAUPC was created for those highly-dedicated students who wish to broaden their knowledge of dance while building self-esteem through hard work, discipline, and teamwork. Our DAUPC members have pursued impressive collegiate and professional careers (both dance and non-dance related). The confidence, poise, self-discipline, and friendships that dancers develop in DAUPC contribute to lifelong success.
COMMITMENT
Being part of DAUPC involves a high level of commitment and dedication. This requires time outside of weekly technique and competition rehearsal classes. Students should view DAUPC as their highest priority extracurricular activity. All DAUPC dancers are required to attend mandatory events. The DAUPC Calendar of mandatory dates will be available in early Fall 2024.
Rookies attend mandatory weekly rehearsal classes and required technique classes. The season will consist of two weekend competitions (in the spring of 2025) – 1 convention/competition and 1 competition. There are also other DAUPC weekend events and activities which may include: PC Boot Camp (August 2024), Halloween Party, PC Picture Day, PC Team Party, etc.
Mandatory choreography sessions take place outside of regular class time and will be assigned sessions sometime during the weekends of August, September, and/or early October. Additional weekend rehearsals will be scheduled on an as needed basis.
Any sport/talent requires commitment, consistency and passion. The more time you spend honing your skills, the better you will be. Maintaining a consistent practice helps build stronger muscles and joints, keeps you in top form, helps you steadily improve, and reduces the risk of injury. DAU hopes to instill a passion for dance in each and every one of our students.
