Acro
Acro focuses on developing strength, flexibility, muscle control, and balance through the integration of traditional gymnastics techniques. These skills are applied within dance to create smooth transitions, controlled movement, and a stronger overall performance quality.
Parents - Please be aware that during acrobatic classes, our instructors will need to provide physical contact with students for spotting and safety purposes. This contact is essential to ensure proper technique and to prevent injuries. At DAU, our Acro deprtment priorotizes the safety of our both students and instructors by following strict guidelines for physical interactions. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these policies, please feel free to contact our management team.

Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of multiple dance disciplines and helps students develop grace, posture, body alignment and artistry. This genre of dance offers several physical benefits such as improved balance, coordination, and honed motor skills.

Beginner Improv explores creativity and builds confidence as dancers experiment with movement and express themselves through fun, guided improvisation.

Combo
Combo classes for our 5-7 year olds offer the opportunity for dancers of this age to continue exploring multiple dance styles. For more details on the specifics of those genres, read our ballet, tap, and jazz descriptions.

Creative Movement
Creative Movement is specially designed for 3 year olds. With imaginations fully engaged, dancers are introduced to ballet elements as they playfully explore creative movement. Dancers must be age 3 by Aug. 1, 2026.

Femme Hip Hop
Femme Hip Hop focuses on the more feminine street styles of hip hop. Students will learn the fundamentals of waacking and voguing. Previous experience in hip hop and/or jazz is recommended.

Flex and Flow
Flex and Flow improves strength, balance, and flexibility in a fun, guided class for dancers ages 10+. Stretch, strengthen, and move with confidence!

Flexibility Fun
Flexibility Fun is designed for dancers ages 8–11, and is a playful class that guides young dancers through stretching and strengthening activities, improves their range of motion, and builds their confidence in movement.

High School Dance Team Training
High School Dance Team Training is designed for those who aspire to up their game as a dance team participant. Offering a dynamic blend of technique, choreography, and teamwork, this class explores various dance styles including contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical, allowing you to discover and develop your unique dance style.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop encourages self-expression and musical interpretation through full body movement. Originating from street dancing, this style incorporates the hottest new dances with explosive movement and freestyling.

Intro to Dance
Intro to Dance is designed for 4-6 year olds and teaches the fundamentals of tap and ballet in a fun and nurturing environment. Students will build self-esteem and engage their creativity.

Intro to K-Pop
Intro to K-Pop is designed for 7-9 year-old dancers. This class will teach the fundamentals of K-Pop dance which blends the hip hop, jazz funk, and house dance forms to create choreography that is set to popular K-Pop music. Students will be introduced to choreography from popular artists while maintaining level appropriateness for the class.

Intro to Lyrical
Intro to Lyrical is designed for 7-9 year-old dancers. Participants learn basic techniques in the styles of ballet, jazz, and modern and begin exploring how to fuse these styles to tell a story. There is no additional ballet requirement for this class.
While our regular Lyrical/Contemp. classes for ages 9+ require a concurrent ballet class, Intro to Lyrical can be taken as a standalone class. *No Ballet requirement*

Jazz
Jazz is a fun, high-energy dance form that develops technique, rhythm, and style while building strength, flexibility and body awareness. Students will build a solid skill set as they execute turns, kicks, leaps, and rhythmic movement to fast-paced music.

K-Pop
K-Pop is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea. K-Pop dance class blends hip hop, jazz funk, and house dance forms to create choreography that is set to popular K-Pop music.
Since K-Pop is a specific dance style, our K-pop classes are choreography based only. A Hip hop class or jazz class is recommended to also take for technique.

Leaps and Turns
Leaps and Turns is a focused class designed to maintain and improve any technique that involves leaping and turning. Dancers acquire the tools needed to improve their technical skills while gaining holistic full-body awareness.

Little Hip Hop
Little Hip Hop is a fun and energetic introduction to hip hop dance for children ages 4-5. This class focuses on building coordination, rhythm, and basic hip hop moves in an encouraging environment. Through games, music, and creative movement, children develop motor skills and confidence.

Lyrical/Contemporary
Lyrical and Contemporary dance classes are fusion genres of movement that come from the basic techniques and skills found in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance styles. Students will explore learning improvisation, partnering and weight sharing exercises in addition to technique. This class emphasizes interpretation of music and lyrics while telling a story. Students will learn that movement has different qualities that can be complex, fluid or abstract. All students must be taking a Ballet class to enroll in a Contemporary or Lyrical class. Must also perform in both classes at end of the year recital.

Musical Theater
Musical Theater combines dance and acting, with a focus on jazz/jazz funk technique. Students will use movement to interpret songs, exploring character motivation and storytelling through performance.

Pre Ballet
Pre Ballet (for our 5-7 year olds) introduces basic ballet terminology, musicality, and technique for our younger dancers in a fun and expressive environment. The curriculum integrates free movement and imagination.

Pre Hip Hop
Pre Hip Hop (for our 5-7 year olds) is a fun and energetic class for dancers. Dancers will build on the basics of hip hop while continuing to develop coordination, rhythm, and confidence. This class introduces simple combinations and foundational movements in a positive and encouraging environment, all while having fun and expressing themselves through music.

Pre Jazz
Pre Jazz (for our 5-7 year olds) builds foundational skills and vocabulary for children wishing to explore the high-energy jazz dance form. Students will learn fundamental technique, balance, rhythm, and style in a fun environment to engage our younger dancers.

Stretch and Strength
Stretch and Strength is designed for dancers of all styles, aiming to enhance their performance through improved range of motion, fluidity, and body control. Through this class, you’ll build strength, balance, and overall body awareness, allowing you to execute your movements with ease and precision.

Tap
Tap is an audible art form which incites the creation of music from the feet. Students will learn how to implement a ‘musical ear’ for analysis of timing and intricate rhythm, as well as practice using their bodies as an instrument of percussion.

Turns Technique
Turns Technique refines and expands a dancer’s turning repertoire. Dancers will learn about full-body connections and mechanics that are vital for successful turns, perfecting pirouettes and learning new skills. With step-by-step guidance on body placement and engagement, along with targeted exercises, dancers strengthen turn-specific muscles and elevate their intermediate skills.
