Next Dance Season

You’re probably familiar with getting ready for the school year once August rolls around, but if your child is taking dance lessons, you should also take steps to prepare for the next dance season. Here’s what to do as rehearsals resume this fall.

Enroll in Dance Classes

If your child has been dancing with Dance Academy USA for a while, you should know exactly which classes to enroll in this dance season. If you’re trying out dance for the first time this fall, you want to make sure your child gets off on the right foot.

What style of dance are you or your child interested in? If you’re not sure, Combo Classes are a good place to start. Intro to Dance is also beneficial for young dancers hoping to jump right in. Adult jazz, hip hop and tap classes are also available! Our staff can help you make the right choice for you.

Mark Your Calendar

Once you know your dance schedule, write weekly rehearsal times on your calendar. If you’re taking more than one class, consider color coding them so you can tell at a glance what to expect each week. Also, look ahead for performances, breaks in the schedule and other important dates, and mark them on your calendar now.

Figure Out Your Shoes and Dance Attire

If you took the summer off, now is the time to reassess your dancewear. Make sure the ribbons are sewn on your ballet slippers, screws are tightened on your tap shoes, and jazz toe pads are in good condition. If your shoes aren’t fit for another dance season, fix them up or buy new ones.

Then, address the remainder of your dance attire. Double check with your instructor on what you need to wear to class each day and stock up on a few leotards, tights and any other accessories you need.

Stock Your Dance Bag

Make the transition from school to dance class less hectic by stocking a dance bag your child can grab and go. Here’s what to include:

  • Water bottle
  • Dance shoes, leotard and tights
  • Hair accessories
  • Lip balm
  • Tissues and wet wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Band-Aids and antibiotic ointment
  • Healthy snacks
  • Dance notebook and pen or pencil
  • A book to read during downtime
