Math is an Art, just like Dance

Studies are showing that traditional school curriculum can not only be delivered, but enhanced by using the arts. In the case of using dance in everyday classrooms there is movement, creation and self expression. Students can communicate their personal values and ideas through dance.Besides the obvious wealth of movement and coordination developed through dance, but what if you could dance a science concept or a math problem? The student can inject themselves into the dance and the learning outcome while at the same time finding a physical and visual connection to the learning concept that they will never forget.

A young mild full of imagination and wonderment should not be put into the box of a black line master or pages of notes. The ability to express a learning concept in dance, as an example, uses so many more intelligence skills than simple recording of fact and memorizing. It injects problem solving, critical thinking and creativity.

Mathematical Development

Although it is surprising, music and dance can help with the development of math skills as well. The rhythms in music are basically patterns, which is an important part of math. Kids learn to count with music, they can learn about sizes and shapes, and even measurements are often involved in songs. Many people have found that children can more easily learn mathematical concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division when it is set to music.
