Be careful when stretching at home. In dance class, we always raise the body temperature before we stretch, and your teachers are trained in the proper stretching technique.

Please stick to the stretches your teacher has given you in class after you are warm. If you have a stretch you’d like to try, check with your teacher first so that he or she can make sure your joints are protected. While flexibility is certainly a great goal, we need to balance it with strength.
