Jeremy Kovitch was born in Camden, NJ. Raised in Israel, Jeremy moved back to the USA with his family at the age of 10. He began his formal ballet training at the age of 15, on full scholarship at the HARID Conservatory. After two years, he was awarded a full scholarship to the San Francisco Ballet School, and within one month was offered a traineeship with SFB. Jeremy left SFB in 2005, and joined the Cincinnati Ballet as an apprentice. In 2006, Jeremy joined Ballet San Jose. He was promoted to the position of Soloist in 2008, and Principal in 2011.
In the summer of 2008, Jeremy joined Zhukov Dance Theatre for its premier. His performances with ZDT earned him a nomination for an Isadora Duncan Dance Award, and a feature article in Pointe Magazine. In the summer of 2011, Jeremy also joined a group of dancers from around the world on a tour to Tallinn, Estonia, for the premier of Tiit Helimets & Company. In addition to dancing for many different companies, Jeremy has also made many guest appearances. Most notably, at a gala entitled “Stars of American Ballet”.
Aside from his career as a professional dancer, Jeremy has also been a teacher, coach, and choreographer for students in the bay area over the past for 8 years. We are very excited to have him at DAU and have been thrilled with the direction that he and Ballet Director, Julie Ma, have taken our Ballet program.
