About our Director, Jane Carter

Among her choreography credits, Jane was the Advisor for the Homestead High School “Equestriettes” for five years, provided dance entertainment for the football and basketball games for De Anza College for two years, and then she went on to create a new team as the director of the San Jose SaberCat cheerleaders, the “SaberKittens,” for six seasons. Jane was also the director of the NBA Warrior Dance Team for one season while the Warriors were in San Jose. She is currently the proud director of DAU’s competition team the “Production Company.” Her studio credits include numerous National Overall Titles and Outstanding Choreography Awards.
Jane’s students have won numerous awards and scholarships, received national titles, and attended a wide range of universities, including UCLA, CSULB, USC, Smith and Fordham/Ailey Dance Programs, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and the Juilliard School. Her students have gone on to become successful teachers, performers, and choreographers in their own right. They have performed/assisted for Mia Michaels R.A.W. (judge for “So You Think You Can Dance”), Dee Caspary IV, New York based Cedar Lake Ensemble, and the television series “Cool Women,” produced by Debbie Allen.
On a personal note, Jane has been married to Jimmy who has been a local residential real estate broker for over 18 years. Jim and Jane have three daughters, Jessie (1990), Jamie (1993), and Jodie (1995).
